About the Owner
My
name is Billy Kupferman. I'm from Long Beach, New York a little
island off of Long Island. I grew up surfing - spending all my time
at the beach in the summer and freezing my butt off surfing in the winter.
Ten years ago, when I was 14, my family went to Sayulita for the first time. I fell in love with the town. There wasn't much there then at all. We had to stay outside town closer to Vallarta and drive in to go surfing. When I got back to school after that trip, Spanish class took on a whole new meaning. I became fascinated with Latin American culture and with speaking Spanish.
My family and I kept going back to Sayulita on school vacations. Every
year it seemed it got a little bigger and every year I fell in love with
it a little more. After high school I moved to Wilmington, North
Carolina and started college at UNCW. Driven by my experiences in
Mexico, I chose Spanish as a major and decided to become a teacher. I
kept going back to Sayulita on my vacations both with my family and friends.
After college I did a bunch of traveling through Indonesia and Europe, and then somehow again ended up back in this little town that I loved so much in Mexico. This time I stayed for a while (about a year). I taught some English classes and met a lot of people. The friends I made were great friends. I left Mexico with a heavy heart to come back to the US to start work on a master's degree.
So...to make a long story short, I got a job teaching Spanish in a high
school here in New York. Of course, the first vacation I had, I
went right back to Mexico. That was when I saw Casa Serena for sale. I
have always dreamt of creating a place in Mexico for people to come and
enjoy Sayulita as I have. The town has provided my family and me
with so many wonderful vacations, and I would like to help do that for
other families, or for anyone else. I don't think I would be where
I am today I had not experienced this town as a kid. I love the
idea of more kids getting their first taste of Mexico while staying at
my place. I love the idea of having surfers, explorers, travelers,
etc., stay at my house and enjoy Sayulita. SO COME ON!!!!
