About Sayulita
Located thirty minutes to the north of Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is a
picturesque fishing village offering everything one would look for in a Mexican getaway - literally. Sayulita, a sleepy fishing village, really does come alive. An average day might include anything from a late breakfast and a siesta on the beach, to a horseback ride through the jungle, a snorkel trip, fishing, surfing, an evening hike, and then a night out in town or, a big night out in nearby Puerto Vallarta. The beauty is - it's up to you, do it all or don't, you choose - here todo es tranquilo.
Restaurants

Town has just about everything you could
imagine if you're hungry. Guests
will be amazed by the variety of restaurants. This speaks to the fact that
people from all over the world have found this town, decided to stay and
have brought with them their food. There's everything from hamburgers to
pizza to sushi to filet mignion to lobster to fish fillet to shrimp to
traditional Mexican dishes that will blow you away. I love the fish at
Tigre's restaurant - I
think it's the best. Rollies restaurant is four minutes from the house
and that's THE spot for breakfast. Everyone's got his or her own favorites.
Nightlife
Sayulita gets fun at night. There are a few bars in town and certainly
no lack of cerveza. Even better there are a lot of nice people to meet
and speak to - both in English and Spanish. The high season provides a
little more excitement than the low season does as there's just more people
in town. From Oct through the end of April you'll hear a DJ playing a few
nights a week at Calypso, mainly Thurs - Sat. Don Pedro's has a fun Salsa
night every Monday - you can learn to dance (I still haven't gotten it
- but I promise its fun). Cafecito has live music on the weekends - it's
a cool
place to hang out. There's always something to do - and best of all there
are options. Looking for a party? - no problem - Just want to drink a few
beers? - no problem - Want to listen to some music? - no problem - Want
to dance? - no problem - Want to go home and go to bed? - that's fine too....its
all up to you.
For those who are into the all night party that may or may not include wet t-shirts and dancing in a cage.......Puerto Vallarta is a major party spot and is only 30 minutes away. It can get pretty fun in there, or so they tell me. You can take the bus for a couple pesos- you'll have to stay out all night to get the bus back, but that doesn't usually seem to be a problem for most people. Taxis are an option as well, but are a little more expensive.
Shopping
You can get just about everything you need in Sayulita. There are
a few little grocery stores that carry most of the basics. The town has
two pharmacies as well. There are a few beach type stores where you can
get beach supplies like sunscreen, towels, sandals, etc., as well as little
Sayulita souvenirs. One thing that really makes Sayulita unique is all the
original artifacts sold around town. There are shops that sell all types
of art and artesanias. At night there is an outdoor market where vendors
sell original jewelry and crafts. More vendors come on the weekends selling
everything from music to musical instruments to candle holders to sandals.
For the
serious shopper, Puerto Vallarta is only a thirty minute bus ride away.
The bus runs straight in every half hour. Vallarta is a major shopping/tourist
center. There are some really great jewelry stores,
along with clothing
shops, and more Mexican souvenirs than you're allowed to bring back. If
you're looking for something and you can't find it in Vallarta, you didn't
look hard enough. They've even got a Wal Mart now - imagine that....just
in case you forget your bicycle pump or electric toothbrush.
